Will my application affect my credit?

The short answer is no, applying for financing on Fortify does not affect your credit score.

Soft credit checks

During the application process, we may conduct a "soft" credit check. Soft credit checks assess your eligibility and may appear on your credit report, but they won’t affect your score. This initial step is designed to make exploring all of your financing options easy and stress-free.

Do payments affect my credit?

If you sign a loan through Fortify, we may report your loan and payment activity to one or more consumer reporting agencies. However, in certain cases, such reporting may be delayed and may not begin until approximately 3 to 6 months after your loan enters repayment.

Making payments on time may be reported to help build your credit. On the other hand, missing payments on a loan may be reported, which can hurt your credit, so it's important to make sure you make all of your payments on time.

Your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to receive one free credit report annually from each of the three major U.S. credit reporting agencies - Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

Regularly checking your credit report not only makes sure that your information is accurate, but also helps you make decisions about how best to improve your credit.
