The short answer is no, applying to Fortify will not affect your credit score.

Soft credit checks

During the Fortify application process, we may conduct a "soft" credit check. Soft credit checks assess your eligibility and may appear on your credit report, but they won’t affect your score. This initial step is designed to make exploring all of your loan options easy and stress-free.

Do payments affect my credit?

Yes, after you sign your loan, making payments on a Fortify will help build your credit. On the other hand, missing payments on your Fortify loan can hurt your credit, so it's important to make sure you make all of your payments on time.

Your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to receive one free credit report annually from each of the three major U.S. credit reporting agencies - Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

Regularly checking your credit report not only makes sure it’s accurate, but also helps you make decisions about how best to improve your credit.
