Can I apply if I have no credit, or bad credit?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Getting approved for a loan to attend school can be stressful if you have no credit history or poor credit. That’s why Fortify aims to provide students with opportunities for education and career advancement, regardless of credit scores. Here’s what you need to know:

Who is eligible to apply for Fortify?

To be eligible for Fortify loans, you must be:

  • enrolled at a partner school

  • be at least 18 years old

  • reside in a state where we lend

  • and be a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident.

Our loans are subject to credit qualification, completion of a loan application/promissory note, verification of application information, and if applicable, school certification of your loan amount and of your enrollment.

Inclusive credit policy

We’re committed to an inclusive underwriting policy which goes beyond traditional credit scores. Fortify will consider various factors beyond just your credit score, to ensure that you’re evaluated based on where you’re going, not just on where you’ve been.

Applying is quick and easy

If you’re unsure about whether you’ll qualify for a Fortify loan, we encourage you to apply and find out! The application process is quick, and you’ll receive an instant decision.

Submitting an application to Fortify doesn’t affect your credit score, so apply today and find out if you qualify for Fortify financing.
